“Frequently Asked Questions”

What is shared supportive housing?

Shared supportive housing is a living arrangement where individuals share a home or apartment while receiving supportive services to help them maintain housing stability and achieve their goals. It's a place where individuals can thrive together. It provides a supportive community environment for individuals facing homelessness, mental health challenges, or other barriers to stable housing.

Do you provide housing for families?

Currently, HavenWay United primarily focuses on individual shared supportive housing. At this time we do not have housing available for families or women with children. Our program is catered to single adults.

Do you help with rental assistance or utility assistance?

We do not assist with rental or utility assistance.

Who is eligible for shared supportive housing?

Eligibility for shared supportive housing at HavenWay United requires guaranteed income (such as SSI/SSDI/Organization Pay) or, for private pay individuals, being work-ready. Our program homes are strictly drug and alcohol-free. We welcome individuals committed to a supportive and stable living environment.

Do you offer refunds?

All program fees paid are non-refundable. We will do everything to accommodate participants needs and make the necessary referrals to other providers/community resources if we are not a good fit.

Is shared supportive housing safe and secure?

Yes, shared supportive housing is designed to provide a safe and secure living environment for participants. We implement measures to ensure a safe living environment for all residents, including strictly enforced program rules and a supportive community atmosphere.

How are roommates matched in shared supportive housing?

We carefully consider various factors, including individual preferences, shared interest, and support needs, to create compatible roommate pairings. Our goal is to foster a harmonious and supportive living environment for all residents.

What amenities are included in shared supportive housing?

Amenities in shared supportive housing may vary depending on the property and program. Common amenities may include furnished bedrooms, shared living spaces, kitchens, bathrooms, laundry facilities, outdoor areas, and access to supportive services on-site or nearby.

How long can individuals stay in shared supportive housing?

The length of stay in shared supportive housing varies depending on individual needs, program requirements, and available resources. Some programs may offer short-term transitional housing while others provide longer-term support with the goal of helping participants achieve housing stability and independence. We aim to support residents for as long as they need a stable and supportive environment.

How can I apply for shared supportive housing?

To apply for shared supportive housing, individuals typically need to contact the program provider directly or be referred by a social service agency, healthcare provider, or community organization. Application processes may involve completing an intake assessment, providing documentation of eligibility, and participating in interviews or screenings. Visit our application page to get started.
